Dell LaCoss is leading a Disciple 1 class that meets on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and will begin with the New Testament. The New Testament piece will be finished by Christmas and will give you a wonderful overview of the New Testament. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to grow in their knowledge of scripture and would also be a good ‘refresher course’ for those who have done Disciple 1 in the past. If you are interested, please call the church office.
Pottsboro’s Great Days of Service is just around the corner! Are you looking for ways to teach your child about helping others and making the world a better place to live? If you are, please think about signing your family up to help at Pottsboro’s Great Days of Service on October 16 & 17, 2020. We have lots of yard work and small projects that are perfect for families and groups of friends to do together. Come on out and help your neighbors! You can sign up to volunteer at Lakeway United Methodist Church in Pottsboro, or at any of our ministerial alliance churches. Great Days of Service is a great way to ‘love your neighbor.’
Maundy Thursday is a day that, in the life of the church, is all about the table. It is a day when we remember the last supper that Jesus shared with his beloved disciples and the words that he left them with, ‘love one another as I have loved you.’ It is a day when we ponder the events after the meal, when Jesus knelt to wash the feet of his friends … the one who would betray him, and the one who would deny him. It is a day filled with meaning and centered on a table of love, forgiveness, hope, and hospitality. We hope that you will join us as we gather to remember this piece of our sacred story. The service will be held in our church sanctuary.
