  • Ash Wednesday Service: February 26, 2020

On one Wednesday each year, the church gathers to mark the beginning of the Season of Lent by placing ashes in the form of a cross on the forehead of each believer. This ‘dust and ashes’ is an ancient symbol of humanity and is a reminder that we are imperfect, fallible, and mortal. We begin the season of Lent in this way to remind us that this is a season of self-reflection and a time when we consider how well we have been representing Christ to the world. Please join us at Lakeway United Methodist Church for this powerful Ash Wednesday service, on Wednesday evening February 26, 2020 at 6:30 pm!

The class will be using Kathie Lee Gifford’s book and video The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi, taking a virtual journey to Bethlehem, Nazareth, Capernaum, Galilee, the Mount of Olives, and Jerusalem. • Disciple One Class: Tuesday Evenings Fall 2019

Dell LaCoss is leading a Disciple 1 class that meets on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and will begin with the New Testament. The New Testament piece will be finished by Christmas and will give you a wonderful overview of the New Testament. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to grow in their knowledge of scripture and would also be a good ‘refresher course’ for those who have done Disciple 1 in the past. If you are interested, please call the church office.

  • Maundy Thursday Service: April 18, 2019

Maundy Thursday is a day that, in the life of the church, is all about the table. It is a day when we remember the last supper that Jesus shared with his beloved disciples and the words that he left them with, ‘love one another as I have loved you.’ It is a day when we ponder the events after the meal, when Jesus knelt to wash the feet of his friends … the one who would betray him, and the one who would deny him. It is a day filled with meaning and centered on a table of love, forgiveness, hope, and hospitality. We hope that you will join us as we gather to remember this piece of our sacred story. The service will be held this Thursday evening, April 18, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in our church sanctuary.
